Concert poster collector and Nirvana specialist Scott Mussell is seeking posters, flyers, handbills and other artifacts of Nirvana’s two 1990 shows in North Carolina. The legendary grunge band played May 1, 1990 at Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC and again on May 2 at The Milestone in Charlotte, NC. “I’ve heard there were flyers for both shows but I’ve only seen the one from Cat’s Cradle” Mussell says adding “I’ve encountered other flyers from these venues so there’s a good chance something was made.” Mussell is especially interested in obtaining single owner flyers with provenance. “This band and this era represent really important music history. I was raised in a collecting environment so focusing my attention and dollars on this material makes a lot of sense, I think it’s sacred and must be preserved” Mussell said. He is offering a $750 reward for an example of the flyer from the 1990 Cat’s Cradle show. If you have flyers from North Carolina punk shows contact Mussell at 515.707.7250 or srmussell@me.com.
The band played Cat’s Cradle again on Oct. 4, 1991 during their rise to fame on the Nevermind tour. “I’ve never seen or heard of a flyer from this show but given that the venue produced promo material I think there’s a really good chance there’s one out there and I want to preserve it” Mussell said.
If you have flyers, posters, handbills or other Nirvana concert material contact Mussell at 515.707.7250 or by email at srmussell@me.com. He is especially interested in single owner flyers, will pay a premium for provenance and is always buying single flyers and entire hoards.
